About Karen

Art has always been my passion even before I knew it was.  I have always felt happiest when I am creating something beautiful.  Throughout my life, that creativity has taken many forms until I discovered how much I love to paint.

My mom, Toni Arnett, is an artist.  Growing up, we always had the smell of oil paint and turpentine in our house.  My sister and I loved watching our mom create her paintings.  She was my first introduction into the world of art.

I took as many art classes in school that I was able to take.  I even thought about majoring in art.  My mom bought me my first set of oil paints when I was in my twenties and has always encouraged me.  She has taught me most of what I know about painting.  Since my kids have been in school full time, I have been able to spend more time painting.

I am originally from Lubbock, TX and lived there until I was 21.  I studied Pre-nursing at Texas Tech University and graduated from the University Of Kansas School of Nursing.  I worked as a critical care and emergency room nurse for 13 years until I had my children.

I have been married for more than 20 years and have a daughter and a son.  We are currently living in Leawood, Kansas.
